Irgendwie
merkt man, dass wir uns langsam Suedamerika naehern, denn hier ist es wesentlich
gruener als auf den Inseln, die wir bisher gesehen haben. Natuerlich sind wir gleich
in den Dschungel wandern gegangen und haben in einem Wasserfall gebadet. Hinter
den Huetten der Einheimischen wachsen nicht nur Karotten,Kohl, Mangos und
Papayas, sondern auch zarte Pflanzen, die hier vorzueglich gedeihen – deshalb wird
so etwas Bob Marley Garden genannt. Grenada ist die letzte Insel vor Trinidad,
dort wird die Onotoa ihre Sommerpause verbringen. Nur wenige Meilen machen doch
einen grossen Unterschied, Trindad liegt ausserhalb der Hurrikanzone, von
Grenada dachte man das auch, bis 2004 Ivan kam und die Insel verwuestete.
The northern top of South America is just 75 miles from here, so ist more
humid here on the island than anything else we saw during our trip in the
Caribbean. We had a great walk in the jungle of Grenada, swimming in a river with
a nice waterfall. The locals not only have carrots and beans right behind their
houses, but also some special plants - so they call that Bob Marley plantation.
This is the last island on our 2012/13 trip before we sail down to Trinidad
where Onotoa will be on the hard during the hurrican season. Grenada was also
rated as hurrican free, but Ivan in 2004 destroyed much of the island
within a day.
