geriakas

Am Weg von Monemvasia nach Porto Heli haben wir einen Stop in dem vom Tourismus verschonten Geriakas gemacht, ausser den Fischern wir waren das einzige Boot im Hafen.On our way from Monemvasia to Porto Heli we had a stop in Geriakas. Just the boats from the local fishermans and Onotoa anchored in the harbor of this small town with two nice Tavernas and no tourism.

Monemvasia

Monemvasia bedeutet: nur ein Eingang - die Stadt ist zur Gänze von einer hohen Mauer umgeben zum Schutz vor Eindringlingen und Piraten.

Monemvasia means: single entrance - the whole town is surrounded by a thick wall for protection against conquerors and pirates.

In Dyros besuchten wir die Tropfsteinhöhle und waren begeistert, dann sind wir bei starkem Wind gleich weiter auf die Insel Elaphonisis, haben dort im Süden in einer Bucht geankert und sind jetzt mitten im Hafenbecken des Hauptorts vor Anker, leider wissen wir nicht was der Grieche wollte der immer FERRY BOAT rief als wir ankerten ;-))

Inzwischen hat die Fähre abgelegt ohne uns zu rammen......

In Dyros we visited the caves which were phantastic, than we sailed with strong winds to the isle of elaphonisis where we anchored i a sandy bay in the south. Now we anchor in the middle of the port of the city and we were not able to check what the Greek said when he cried FERRY BOAT when we dropped the anchor ;-))

Meanwhile the ferry boad departed without problems......

On every cape of the Peloponnese you find an old castle.

pylos

Mit schönem Wind (20-25kn) haben wir unterwegs umgeplant und ind nicht zu den Strophaden sondern gleich nach Pylos, eine geschichtsträchtige Stadt. In der der Bucht von Navarino in der Pylos liegt wurde 1827 mit einer Seeschlacht die griechische Unabhängigkeit entschieden, Türken mit Ägyptern gegen Engländer, Franzosen und Russen!

With good winds (20-25kn) we changed our plans while sailing to the Strophade islands and instead we were going direct to Pylos which is full of history. Pylos is located in the Navarino bay and in 1827 the independe of Greece was decided in a see battle - Turks and Egypts against Brits, French and Russians!

olympia

katakolon ist der anlaufpunkt für die riesigen kreuzfahrt- schiffe, von dort sind wir mit dem zug nach olympia gefahren und waren sehr beeindruckt.wenn die kreuzfahrer ablegen ist der ort wieder im dornröschenschlaf.

katakolon is the harbour for all the big cruising boats, we used the train to visit olympia and we were very impressed. as soon as the cruising boats are gone katakolon looks like no name city.
