Astypalaia

Wieder einmal sind wir auf unserer Lieblingsinsel Astypalaia und die Chora mit dem Kastell auf dem Felsen begeistert uns immer aufs neue. Es ist auch die einzige Insel im Dodekanes, welche den Ortskern nicht am Meer hat, sondern so wie alle Kykladeninseln auf einer Bergkuppe. Der selbstgemachte Apfelstrudel hat hier besonders geschmeckt......

Again we are at Astypalaia which is our favorite in the Aegean. Its the only island in the Dodekanesse with a Chora - which means that the city is built on the top of a hill like on all the Cyclades islands. Sure that our homemade Apfelstrudel tasted great here......

Anafi Kloster / Anafi monastery

Beeindruckt hat uns nach einem langen Aufstieg der Blick vom Gipfel (463m) des riesigen Felsens, der am oestlichen Ende von Anafi in den Himmel ragt. In der Kirche oben haben wir drei Kerzen entzuendet und dann einen weiten Blick ueber den Tellerrand genossen.

It was a long walk up to the top of the rock which is at the eastern end of Anafi island. In the church which is on top we had lighted three candles and then we had a famous view over the great blue sky almost to the end of the world.

Santorin

Zurueck in Santorin sind wir durch den Krater gesegelt, haben die vielen Kreuzfahrtschiffe mit all den vielen Leuten gesehen, die hoechstens 8 Stunden Zeit haben fuer diese Insel und daran gedacht, wie gut es uns geht......

Back in Santorini we sailed near all the big cruising boats through the vulcano and we realized again how lucky we are to have more than just eight hours to visit the island.....

Anafi

Wieder einmal sind wir auf einer unserer Lieblingsinseln und geniessen die absolute Ruhe auf Anafi (Monika + Hansi: Wir wissen warum es auch euch gefallen hat).

Again we are on one of our favourite islands and we enjoy the tranquility of Anafi Island.

Santorin

Unser neuer Besuch, Sylvias Mama ist in Santorin angekommen und wir verbringen ein paar schoene Spaetsommertage auf der Vulkaninsel. Sylvia's mother arrived at Santorini Island and enjoys the greek summer sun.

Karin

Worte koennen das einfach nicht ausdruecken wenn man einen wirklich guten Freund auf dem letzten Weg begleiten muss. Das war der Grund, warum wir die letzten Tage keine updates auf unserem Blog gemacht haben. Jetzt habe ich mich gemeinsam mit vielen anderen von Karin verabschiedet - wir werden oft an dich denken. Besonders beeindruckt hat mich der ganz liebe Rueckhalt der ehemaligen Arbeitskollegen von ACL/EXEL - bin echt stolz auf euch, ihr wart ein grossartiges Team, danke. Dann ist auch noch die Seelenverwandtschaft zu einem Menschen der ihr den Rueckhalt gegeben hat alles viel viel laenger durchzustehen. Solche Dinge kann man einfach nicht kaufen, manche Menschen haben das, wenige verbindet es und ganz selten sieht man es noch - ich weiss wovon ich spreche......

Ueber ein Feedback und Kommentare derjeniger, die ich in Wien getroffen habe wuerde ich mich diesmal GANZ BESONDERS freuen!

Marley

Nicht Bob sondern sein Sohn Julian Marley hat Antiparos beehrt und natuerlich haben wir uns das Konzert angeschaut, Ende war erst so um etwa zwei Uhr in der Frueh - Sylvia ist das letzte mal beim Guns´n Roses Konzert auf der Donauinsel so lange gestanden wie heute Nacht.

Not the famous Bob but his son Julian Marley gave a great concert in Antiparos which ended at about 0200am - the last time Sylvia had been at a pop concert that long was in 1992 when we saw Guns´n Roses in Vienna.

Antiparos

Wieder einmal sind wir in Antiparos, naja in den letzten 30 Jahren hat sich doch einiges geaendert...in der Einfahrt zum kleinen Hafen im Hauptort hat uns noch die Antiparos-Lines aus Parikia kommend ueberholt - inzwischen ist die Faehre doch doppelt so gross geworden und zusaetzlich gibt es jede halbe Stunde (!) eine Autofaehre aus Pounda. Auf der noch immer sehr netten Hauptstrasse gibt es mittlerweile kaum mehr ein Haus welches nicht Fetzenladen-Souveniershop-Souvlakibude-Supermarkt ist und unten an der Hafenpromenade ist viel Verkehr, wo fahren die alle hin??? Als wir 1981 erstmalig hier waren gab es noch keine Autos auf der Insel und nur eine einzige kurze Sandstrasse.

Again we are in Antiparos now and it changed quite a lot since we first visited in 1981.....the ferryboat from Parikia has doubled its size and from Pounda there are even car ferries every 30 (!) minutes. The main street is still very nice but but now there are supermarkets-souvenir shops and fast food restaurants all over up from the harbor to the square. We still remember the island when there had been no streets and no cars back in the early 80s last century. Now there are many cars around the harbour and we dont know where they are all going on this small island.

Animals First

Vieles haben wir schon gesehen aber hier in Serifos gibts eine besondere Art von 2-koepfigen und 8-beinigen Katzen...
You must know that we had seen many cats but the one in Serifos is unique.....

Wellen / waves

Kraeftiger Wind mit ueber 30kn hat uns eine schnelle Reise von Andros nach Kythnos und dann weiter nach Serifos gebracht. Heute ist Tom wieder nach Hause gefahren und wir haben einen Ruhetag weil es windstill ist.Die Bilder hat er von der hinteren Stufe gemacht, angeschnallt natuerlich.....

With heavy wind of over 30 knots we sailed from Andros via Kythnos to Serifos where we are on anchor now. Tom flew back home today and we stay here cause there is no wind now. Tom took the pics from the stern, secured by a lifebelt......

Kea-Andros

Zuerst mit Wind aus Nord nach Kea, dann mit Suedwind nach Andros zurueck und jetzt warten wir wieder auf den Meltemi (Nordwind) der uns weiter in den Sueden nach Kithnos und Serifos bringt. Tom ist unser Besucher jetzt und geniesst das Bordleben, weil es so heiss ist schlaeft er in der Nacht an Deck in der Haengematte.

We sailed down to Kea with wind from north, than back to Andros with wind from south and now we again wait for the Meltemi which will take us back south to Kithos and Serifos. Tom is our visitor now and he enjoys the life on bord of Onotoa, at night he sleeps in the hammock on deck cause its pretty hot now here in Greece.

Psara-Andros

In Lesbos hatten wir eine tolle Wanderung von Eressos nach Sigri, als wir zum Boot kamen war es schon finster. Am naechsten Tag haben uns bei der Einfahrt nach Psara wieder mal Delphine begruesst und wir sind schon weiter und ankern heute - danke an Herbert und Angelika fuer den guten Tipp - in Batsi auf der Insel Andros.

At Lesbos island we had a nice walk from Eressos to Sigri, it was alraedy dark when we arrived at the boat. The next day we saw some dolphins at the entrance of Psara and now we are on anchor in Batsi on Andros island (thanks to Herbert+Angelika for the information, its nice here!)

Lesbos

Besonders beeindruckend beim Segeln finden wir immer den Sonnenaufgang, der Segler in der Hafeneinfahrt von Sigri hatte weniger Glueck!

Its always fantastic to see the sunrise, the sailor which lost his boat at the entrance of Sigri was unlucky....

Agios Efstratios

Es gibt auf dieser Insel (286 Einwohner) KEIN Schuhgeschaeft und keinen Fetzenladen mit Strandkleidern. Deshalb sind wir hier...... Frueher war die Insel ein Straflager fuer politische Gefangene, auch Mikis Theodorakis war hier interniert.

There is no chance for shopping on this island, thats why we are here......In the 19th century the island was used to house political prisoners, even Mikis Theodorakis was here.

Skopelos 2

Die Salzburger sind angekommen. Wie wird der Kaeptain wohl die naechsten 10 Tage mit 3 Maedels klar kommen? Stundenlange Shoppingtouren, Ankern vorm Schuhgeschäft, pausenloses Tratschen....

OMG - how will the captain survive this trip???? THREE ladies on board, need help....please contact me asap - will the court understand that i abandoned them on a tiny deserted little island????

Skiathos

Wir hatten einen netten Segeltag (von Skopelos nach Skiathos) und auch die Murli Oma kam endlich zum Segeln ,

jetzt ankern wir in der Bucht vor dem Hauptort in Skiathos, hoffentlich sind nicht viele Flugzeuge hier in der Nacht im Anflug denn unsere Mastspitze beruehrt fast die Raeder der Flieger......;-))

We had a nice day sailing from Skopelos to Skiathos and now we are on anchor at Skiathos town, right at the landing strip of the airport, the top of our mast almost touches the wheels of the planes - so we hope its not busy airport during the night ;-))

Mamma Mia !

Meryl Streep war nicht da und auch Pierce Brosnan haben wir nicht in der kleinen Kapelle (im Film ist sie so gross wie eine richtige Kirche) auf dem aus dem Musical MAMMA MIA ! gesehen. Aber wir waren oben.

Meryl Streep wasnt there and also we couldnt find Pierce Brosnan but we climbed the hill on which the wedding church for the final scene in the famous MAMMA MIA! musical is located. In the movie is much bigger, in real is just a small chapel.

Besuch / visit

Der erste Besuch ist nun auf der Onotoa eingetroffen und die Murli-Oma fuelhlt sich sehr wohl an Bord. Das lange Seil haben wir als Ersatz fuer unsere gerissene Leine vom Vorsegel gekauft, also sie musste das nicht aus Wien mitnehmen ;-))

Helmuts mother is the first visitor in 2010 on board of Onotoa, the long rope is the replacement for the Genoa line which broke on the way to Skopelos.

Rocco

Auf der Insel Psara waeren wir fast schwach geworden und haetten uns einen Bordhund angeschafft. On Psara island we saw this dog which looked like Rocco - the dog we had from 1993 to 2005 - but now we think that a boat is too small for a dog.

Psara

Ziemlich genau in der Mitte der Aegaeis liegt die kleine Insel Psara, aber wie (fast) ueberall gibts einen Baecker, einen Supermarkt und ein Internet-Cafe und natuerlich einen von der EU gesponserten Wanderweg (170.000 Euro) auf den Huegel ueber dem Ort, von dort stammt das Photo.

Right in the middle of the Aegean Sea is the small island of Psara and like almost everywhere there is a supermarket , a bakery and an internet cafe. Well and also a hiking path up the hill next to the small village paid by the EU. We took this pic from the top.

Psara

Endlich schwimmt die Onotoa wieder und gleich bei der ersten Ausfahrt zu Insel Oinoussa hatten wir Besuch von Delphinen.Wir sind dann weiter zur kleinen Insel Psara und dort hatten wir wieder Besuch, diesmal aber keine Delphine sondern zwei Oesterreicher die mit dem Schlauchboot !(!!) in drei Wochen von Wien aus die Donau runter und uebers Schwarze Meer, Bosporus, Dardanellen in die Aegaeis gefahren sind. Weiter gehts nach Athen und dann durch den Kanal von Korinth in die Adria mit Ziel (in einer Woche) in Trieste. Tolle Reise, mal ganz was anderes.....zu sehen auf http://www.tukkentour.at/

Finally back in the water and on our first trip some Dolphins guided us to Oinoussa island. From there we sailed down to the small island of Psara and we had a strange meeting with two crazy Austrians who started three weeks ago from Vienna with a small Dinghy. They had travelled the river Danube all the way down into the Black Sea and via Istanbul into the Aegean. Now they continue via Athens and the canal of Corinth into the Adriatic Sea and they plan to arrive at the port of Trieste in seven days. See their voyage at www.tukkentour.at

Warum wir den Unfall hatten / why stranded?

Fuer die Segler unter unseren Lesern noch der Grund wie wir zu unseren Loechern im Kiel gekommen sind, trotz 30m Kette (10mm) und 30kg Anker. Geankert haben auf 4 Meter bei 15kn Suedwind, dann war es windstill und um 0130 waren ueber 45kn Wind aus Nord. Koennen wir Pirelli klagen??

For all thew sailors who read our blog - on the pic you can see the reason for the damage, we had anchored at 15kn wind from S on 4m with about 30m of chain(10mm) and our 30kg anchor out, than at midnight there was no wind at all and at 0130 we had a thunderstorm over 45kn of wind from N. Can we hold Pirelli responsible for that?

Bald ist es soweit / back in the water soon

Nach unserem Zwangsaufenthalt in Chios sind wir noch diese Woche wieder zurueck im Wasser und dann auf dem Weg nach Skiathos wo wir schon zu gerne auf unsere ersten Besucher in diesem Jahr warten. Der griechische Spezialist hat ganze Arbeit geleistet und die Onotoa sieht wieder aus wie neu......danke Antonios!

The boat will be back in the water this week and than we will sail to the island of Skiathos where the first visitors in 2010 will get on board. Thanks for the very special asisstance of Antonios who repaired Onotoa with hois team and now she shines like new again!

Silberhochzeit / silver wedding

Unseren 25. Hochzeitstag verbrachten wir an Bord der BRIGHT STAR. Wir möchten uns nochmals herzlich bei unserem Freund Franz für die nette Woche bedanken, wo wir viel Spass hatten.

Our 25th anniversary of the wedding day we spent on board of the BRIGHT STAR. Thank you Franz for the nice and funny week.

Der Pool rund um die Onotoa ist etwas groesser aber es gefaellt uns gut in Chios und die Onotoa ist hoffentlich bald wieder im Wasser!

The pool around Onotoa is much bigger but we enjoy Chios and hope that the boat is back in the water soon!

Chaos in Chios

Friedlich liegt die Onotoa am Fischerkai von Ormos Mesta in Chios als ob nix geschehen waere aber leider haben wir uns in einem ploetzlichen naechtlichen Sturm an einer Schotteruntiefe ein paar Loecher in den Kiel geholt......so jetzt schaun wir mal, dass die Onotoa wieder entsprechend repariert wird, am wichtigsten natuerlich ist, dass uns nichts passiert ist!

Onotoa lying pieceful in the harbour of Ormos Mesta/Chios Island, as if nothing had happened. Unfortunately we hit some stones in a bad thunderstorm at night and we got some holes in the keel.....now we gonna see to repair her properly , anyway most import is that we are fine!
