Auch in der
Karibik kann man eine Woche lang ganz alleine ankern, wir waren auf den kleinen
Inseln suedlich von Carriacou: White Island, Saline Island und Ronde Island.
Die beiden erstgenannten sind unbewohnt, auf Ronde leben etwa 20 Leute vom
Fischen und tauschen ihren Fang gegen T-Shirts, Dosengulasch, Bier und
Orangensaft…..fast wie auf den Kapverden…..Onotoas Bordkueche hat dann noch
Bananenkuchen und Brot gezaubert, einfach perfekt. Recht langsam sind wir
unterwegs Richtung Sueden, in den letzten 21 Tagen sind wir nur 32 Meilen
gesegelt.
Many people say ist overcrowded in
the Caribbean, well it depends on where you are. We had been all alone on the
small uninhabited islands south of Carriacou, White Island and Saline Island.
Just 9 miles south lies Ronde Island which was also a nice anchorage with
friendy fishermen, about 20 of them live
on the island. They traded fresh fish for tins of meat and beer, orange juice
and some T-shirts, almost like Cabo Verde. Nothing compares to home cooking
with fresh bread and Sylvias banana cake. As you can see it takes some time for
us to get further south, the last 21 days we just sailed 32 miles…..
