La Palma - Berge / mountains

Am Roque de los Muchachos steht das groesste europaeische Weltraumspiegelteleskop, weil es hier in La Palma besonders klare Luft gibt (keine Industrie) und alle Nachtbeleuchtungen auf der Insel auf ein Minimum reduziert sind. Es war grimmig kalt auf 2400m Hoehe und ein grossartiger Ausblick zwischen den Wolken, die der Passatwind auf die Berge setzt. Das ist auch der Grund warum es im Gegensatz zu anderen Inseln der Kanaren hier in La Palma so gruen ist, fast wie in Madeira.

Located on La Palmas highest mountain, the Roque de los Muchachos, is Europes biggest astrophysics obsevatory. This is because La Palmas air is clear, there is no heavy industry and light pollution all over the island is reduced to a minimum. It was cold at the top, which is 7200ft

and there was a great view down all over the island through the clouds which are made by the tradewinds. Thats the reason why La Palma is almost as green as Madeira.
